The National RX-5650 is a stereo radio and cassette recorder manufactured in Japan (brand: National, which is a Panasonic / Matsushita brand) circa early 1980s. It’s one of the larger boomboxes of its era, featuring multiple speaker drivers, Dolby noise reduction, and support for “metal tape” (high-bias cassette) in addition to more common tape types. Some listings refer to it also as National / Technics RX-5650, highlighting its premium / hi-fi aspirations. It seems to have been positioned as a “sound quality” model, with emphasis on powerful audio, wide frequency response with the right tapes, and flexible input/output capabilities.
