The AIWA CS-80 is a high-end portable stereo radio cassette recorder introduced in 1979 as the flagship model of AIWA’s “Basic Carry Compo” series.
Designed as a portable Hi-Fi component system, it combined home stereo performance with battery-powered portability, making it one of the most advanced boomboxes of its era. Featuring a powerful 7.4-watt stereo amplifier (3.7W + 3.7W) and a two-way speaker system with 16 cm woofers and 52 mm tweeters.
The CS-80 delivered impressive sound quality for a portable unit. The AM/FM stereo tuner provided excellent reception, while the cassette deck supported both normal and chrome tapes and included manual recording level controls with dual VU meters.
